About the Job:
- Responsible for daily safety inspections of the plant and equipment, checking for oil leaks, fire extinguishers, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintaining incident logs and preparing monthly safety reports for the management team.
- Training new staff on safety procedures and reinforcing best practices through regular walkthroughs.
- Collaborating with the maintenance crew to schedule preventive maintenance and ensuring all tools are stored properly.
- Responding to any accidents or near misses and conducting root‑cause analysis.
Day‑to‑Day Work: You will spend most of your day on the factory floor, speaking with operators, supervisors, and the shop floor manager. Early mornings start with a 15‑minute safety huddles where we share quick safety tips. The rest of the day involves walking around the plant, checking the storage of chemicals, verifying that fire doors are closed, and ensuring that the emergency exit routes are clear. In the afternoons, you’ll sit at a small office for reporting and documentation.
Team Culture: We’re a tight‑knit group of about 150 employees. Everyone respects each other’s input, even the youngest trainee. Our senior manager holds a weekly “Safety & Sustainability†session where anyone can raise concerns or suggest improvement ideas. Growth Opportunities: After 9‑12 months, a successful candidate can move into a Senior Safety Officer role or even run a Safety Training Program for other towns in the region. We provide internal training, and budget for a National Institute of Safety certificate course if you wish to advance your credentials.
Tools & Equipment: You’ll use a handheld digital meter to check industrial gas levels, a tablet with the company’s Safety Management Software (SAMS), and basic first aid kit. Daily safety logs are kept in a cloud folder that all safety officers can access.
Work Environment: The plant is located in a small industrial zone with easy access via local bus. The working hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with a one‑hour lunch break. Remote work isn’t an option because most of the tasks require on‑site presence.
