Ticket Seller (Local Transport) Job in Chakradharpur, Jharkhand
Jharkhand Public Transport
Welcome to Jharkhand Public Transport, the heart of Chakradharpur’s daily commute. We bring joy to every corner of the town, bringing smiles as people board our buses. Day starts at 6 a.m. when the shop at the bus stand lights up and the first ticket prints turning hawky to crisp paper for commuters.
You will meet a diverse team of seven sales assistants, a shift manager and a clerk, who work as a unit to keep the morning rush flowing. Our culture is based on trust, patience and a little bit of friendly banter over coffee. We celebrate a customer’s satisfaction as a personal win.
In the afternoons the venue softens, chatter slows, and we gather for a quick huddle to share any odd requests from drivers or new fare updates. If you are proactive, you can suggest ways to speed up the process or add a small loyalty‑card program that the manager loves.
- Hold and balance till, train mobile POS and cash register proficiency.
- Process tickets for regular commuters, school buses and private hire vans.
- Assist elderly passengers in locating correct pick‑up points.
- Maintain accurate daily sales log and submit to booking office by dusk.
- Participate in weekly team meet‑ups to share ideas and give feedback.
During the night shift, if you sign up, you’ll keep the service going as a few overnight routes start. This shift gives an extra ₹200 per month. It’s perfect for students or anyone who wants to earn extra cash while learning about the local transport network.
Tools and equipment we use include a simple ticket kiosky (card swipe optional), a smartphone for quick fare lookup, a small cash drawer and a whiteboard for tracking sales. No need for fancy software – cool, right?
We’re looking for someone who is punctual, friendly and a quick learner. You don’t need prior experience – we’ll train you on how to handle the till, use the POS, read the route maps and greet a crowd of passersby. You should have finished at least high school or the same equivalent. You can work both day and night shifts and we even have a holiday bonus at the beginning of each year.
We value growth and have a clear ladder: after a year of consistent performance you may become a senior ticket seller and help mentor new staff. If you show dedication, the role can transition into quick booking office work, with greater responsibility and a higher wage band.
The job offers a monthly salary of ₹10,000 to ₹18,000. It includes a 10% performance bonus at the end of each quarter if you meet or exceed your targets. The base rate is higher during peak hours, especially on exam days and festival seasons. If you keep the till balanced and handle a good volume of tickets, the incentive grows.
What makes this workplace special is the sense of community. Be it helping a poor school kid find the right bus, assisting a daily commuter, befriending a regular passenger or aligning the shift schedule with the local market, everyone plays a part. The office is a small shop inside the main bus stand, small but equipped with comfortable chairs, a fridge for tea and a community notice board where we pin upcoming town events.
We respect work-life balance and give child care time during the day for parents working the evening shift. Our numbers are modest but stable, which means a stable income for you and your family.
Ready to join us? Drop your resume along with a short motivation note. We’ll schedule a friendly chat and next steps. We look forward to welcoming a new member to this close‑knit team who shares our love for serving Chakradharpur.
