Category Executive – Local Retail Hub Job in Mankera, Punjab
Shiv Shakti Markets
About Us
We are Shiv Shakti Markets, a family‑run retail store that has served the people of Mankera, Punjab for over two decades. From fresh produce to household essentials, we keep the community well‑supplied while preserving a warm, cash‑cash trading atmosphere. Today we’re expanding our daily operations and looking for a Category Executive to join our energetic team.
A Day in the Life
Every day starts with a quick team huddle at 8:30 AM, where we review stock, discuss sales targets, and share customer feedback. The Category Executive’s role is hands‑on: you’ll monitor shelf space, ensure timely replenishment, and keep an eye on price tags. Imagine walking through aisles peppered with fresh phool ki mala (flower garlands), bulk grain bins, and colourful spice packets – you’ll be the first to spot a low stock or a mis‑priced item and act fast.
Team Culture
Our team works best when we treat each other like family. We celebrate small wins with a pot of chai after closing time, and we’re always ready to swap stories over lunch. Your voice matters – we encourage suggestions for new product lines or better display techniques, and we appreciate open dialogue in a supportive environment.
Growth Opportunities
As Sales Numbers grow, you’ll have chances to step into a supervisory role, manage a shift, or even help launch a new store. Training is provided on cataloguing systems, vendor negotiations, and basic accounting. The goal is to equip you with skills that keep you valuable both inside and outside the retail world.
Key Responsibilities – Real Examples
- Track stock levels by hand or using our simple spreadsheet “StockLog 2024” and reorder when items fall below the set threshold.
- Collaborate with the local wholesaler to negotiate better prices on bulk rice and oil supplies.
- Inspect incoming deliveries for damage, sign off the goods, and update the inventory notebook.
- Display seasonal items (e.g., *Kesar* saffron for Holi) across high‑traffic zones and monitor footfall.
- Assist customers in locating their needed items and recommend complementary products.
Tools & Equipment
You’ll mainly use a laptop with a basic inventory software (Excel), a barcode scanner (if available), and a handheld weighing scale for produce. In case of any new tech, we schedule short in‑house training sessions. The shop floor is a bustling yet organized space – polished wooden flooring, bright shelves, and a small refreshment corner for staff.
Working Environment
This role is situated in our shop on main market street – a lively venue where locals stop by for fresh milk, tea, and household needs. The office area is a small, sun‑lit room behind the sales floor used for packing, stationery, and break times.
Why This Job is Right for You
If you’re a hard‑working, detail‑oriented individual who thrives in a community‑focused setting, you’ll fit right in. We value punctuality, reliability, and a sunny attitude – no former retail experience is required. We offer flexible shifts, a comfortable side‑car, and a daily lunch‑box potluck.
Compensation & Benefits
Monthly salary ranges between INR 12,000 and INR 20,000. Apart from the base pay, we provide:
- Daily kitchen meal support for staff.
- Annual performance bonus.
- Health and sanitation facilities.
- Optional travel allowance for field purchase trips.
