Media Relations Executive Job in Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Island Voice Media Pvt. Ltd.

Welcome to Island Voice Media, the heartbeat of Port Blair’s news and storytelling. We’re a small but passionate team that brings the latest local, national and global stories to the people of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Every day, our newsroom buzzes with the sound of phones, the click of keyboards and the occasional sea breeze that wafts in through the open windows. We start with a quick huddle, share the day’s headlines, and then dive into writing, editing and publishing. It’s a fast‑paced environment, but we always make time for a coffee break and a quick chat about the island’s culture.

Team culture is simple: we respect each other, we share ideas, and we celebrate small wins. Whether you’re drafting a press release or coordinating a media event, you’ll find that everyone is ready to lend a hand. We also have a weekly “Story Swap” where team members present a story they’re working on – it’s a great way to learn new angles and improve writing skills.

Growth opportunities are real. Starting as a Media Relations Executive, you can move into senior roles such as Media Manager or Communications Lead. We encourage continuous learning – you’ll get access to workshops on digital media, public relations and even a short course on Adobe InDesign.

Responsibilities (with real examples):

  • Draft and distribute press releases for local events – e.g., last month we covered the annual “Sea‑Life Festival” and got coverage in three regional newspapers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists from Port Blair, Port Blair and nearby islands – we keep a contact list and send monthly newsletters.
  • Coordinate media coverage for community projects – we worked with the local tourism board to promote eco‑tourism packages.
  • Monitor media mentions and prepare a weekly media report – we use Google Alerts and a simple spreadsheet.
  • Assist in organising press conferences and media briefings – we set up the venue, manage invitations and handle on‑site queries.

Tools and equipment you’ll use include:

  • Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign) for graphics.
  • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) for collaboration.
  • Slack for quick communication.
  • Microsoft Outlook for email and calendar management.

Environment: Our office is located on Marine Drive, with a view of the sea and a relaxed vibe. We have a small kitchen, a comfy lounge area and a dedicated media room for recording interviews. The office is open 9 am to 6 pm, but you may need to be flexible for urgent media requests.

Benefits and perks: We provide a basic health insurance plan, a monthly stipend for internet usage, and a small performance bonus. We also encourage a healthy work‑life balance with flexible hours and occasional remote work from home.

Community involvement: We regularly partner with local NGOs to promote environmental awareness and support local journalism training programs.

We’re looking for someone who can handle multiple tasks at once, is comfortable with deadlines, and loves the island vibe. If you’re a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s in Communications, Journalism or a related field, and you’re ready to grow with us, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now and become part of a team that tells the stories of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands to the world.
