Order Packer Job in Jamtara, Jharkhand, India

Jamtara Distribution Hub

About Your Future Role

Hello from Jamtara! We are a growing distribution hub that partners with local retailers and national e‑commerce retailers to ensure products reach customers on time and in perfect condition. We’re looking for an Order Packer to join our hands‑on team here in the heart of Jharkhand.

What an Average Day Looks Like

Morning arrives at 07:30 AM, and by 08:00 a.m. the warehouse is buzzing. I start by checking my barcode scanner and the list of orders destined for the region. By 10:00 a.m., I’ve packed over 200 orders, each carefully wrapped with bubble‑wrap and labelled correctly. I use our lightweight pallet jack, a simple software system on my tablet, and a few hand tools like a rubber mallet and a packing tape dispenser. The work is usually done in a warehouse with good ventilation and a small break area that has a kettle, fresh water, and a local chai maker on Sundays.

Our Team Culture

We treat everyone as a family member. The team is small—about 15 full‑time packers—so we share tasks, help each other, and celebrate small wins like a packed order that gets delivered without a single damage claim. Our manager walks the floor every day, listens to concerns, and keeps the work light with occasional music and lunchtime chat about cricket or local festivals.

Growth Opportunities

We believe in keeping people in place and promoting from within. After a year or so, a dedicated packer can become a Shift Supervisor, then eventually a Warehouse Manager. You’ll be trained in basic inventory control, health & safety protocols, and using the warehouse management software. We also organise occasional short courses on packaging techniques and machine maintenance, free of cost.

Key Responsibilities (Real Examples)

  • Scan each item and cross‑check against the packing list. If a laptop’s battery is missing, I’ll immediately notify the quality control team.
  • Wrap fragile goods: A customer ordered a ceramic vase; I used water‑based packing foam and wrapped the basket in thick bubble‑wrap before putting it in a padded box.
  • Label the package with the correct name, address, and barcoding guidelines so the delivery driver can scan it before handing it over.
  • Maintain cleanliness: Sweep the floor after every shift and put used packing material in designated recycling bins.
  • Log in package status to the ERP system: I enter ‘Packed’ and ‘Ready for Dispatch’ so the dispatcher allocates the right route.

Tools & Equipment

  • Barcode scanner, pallet jack, packing tape dispenser, hot glue gun, and a small toolbox for gentle disassembly.
  • Standard PPE: safety shoes, gloves, and a safety vest.
  • Warehouse Management System (web‑based) accessed via a rugged tablet.

Work Environment

Our warehouse is a refrigerated but well‑ventilated shop located on the outskirts of town, with a small cafeteria and a washing machine on the premises for workwear. The climate is mild, with an average temperature of 28°C during the day. Working conditions are safe with daylight by default, and fire extinguishers are available.

Why Join Us?

We provide a supportive environment, competitive pay, and growth potential in a small town that still offers connectivity to big cities. If you’re a hard worker, honest, and want to become an integral part of a thriving logistics team, we’d love to hear from you.
