Media Relations Executive Job in Wokha, Arunachal Pradesh

GreenArts NGO

Do you love talking to people, writing press releases and juggling a calendar of events? We’re a growing regional nonprofit based in the town of Wokha, Arunachal Pradesh, and we’re looking for a Media Relations Executive who can narrate our story to the world. The role is a blend of writing, coordination, and on‑the‑go outreach – a perfect fit for a communicator who thrives in a small‑town environment yet dreams big.

What a typical day looks like

Our office is a cozy, three‑room space on the main market road. On Monday, you might spend the morning drafting a press release for the upcoming “Green Arts Festival” next month, and by noon you’re already in the local radio station’s studio pitching a segment. Wednesday afternoons are usually booked with a round of social media planning – we use simple tools like Canva for graphics and Google Docs for drafts, all saved in a shared drive. Friday’s finish line is the weekly email newsletter to our partner organisations – a quick copy‑edit and a final run‑through of the graphic element. The pace is swift but doable, and you’ll have the beat-up laptop that is yours along with a quiet desk free of office politics.

Team culture

We are a tight‑knit team of eight that meets at the local tea stall for casual brainstorming sessions. Everyone is invited to shout out new ideas, no matter the seniority level. The boss is always happy to listen to someone down the line if they have a better way to reach a school or a community centre. We celebrate small wins – last month we hit 20% more media reach than projected, and the whole team shared a pot of tea on the terrace.

Opportunities for growth

Without a formal office hierarchy, you’ll get to take on projects on the side. If you want to learn video editing, you can by the end of the year be producing a short documentary for a grant application. There’s also a mentoring program with a senior journalist from a nearby city who will review your drafts and give you feedback. And as we expand operations to Assam and Sikkim, more senior roles will open up in communication strategy and global outreach.

Key responsibilities

  1. Press & Media Outreach: Write and distribute press releases, coordinate interviews and media events. For example, last month you secured an interview on a regional TV channel for our chief executive.
  2. Content Creation: Draft content for our website and newsletter. You’ll be revising a monthly feature piece for teachers in the district.
  3. Social Media Coordination: Maintain a six‑month content calendar on Facebook and WhatsApp groups. Use Canva to create visuals; the budget is limited but you’ll learn to be creative.
  4. Data & Reporting: Compile media monitoring sheets weekly, using a free Google Sheet template to show coverage, sentiment and key metrics.
  5. Community Liaison: Build and maintain relationships with local schools, NGOs and publishing houses. If a school invites us for a talk, you’ll handle the paperwork and arrange transport.

Tools & Equipment

  • Standard laptop (HP 15-inch) – your own device is welcome but must support MS Office
  • Camcorder for short interviews – we share a borrowed Canon VIXIA
  • Basic audio recorder – used during community interviews
  • Cloud storage (Google Drive) – all files must be stored there for backup
  • Social media scheduling – Buffer (free tier)

Work environment

Office is open‑plan, natural light coming from the windows across the street. We have a small kitchen with a tea/soup pot for you to use during breaks. The most important part of the setting is that you can move in and out of the office right when a field event or a campus visit needs your attention. The rural setting offers you real-life story material and the chance to network with villagers and local influencers alike.

How to apply

Send a resume, a cover letter and two writing samples (a press release and a social media post) to hr@greenart.org. We’ll reach out within a week for a short interview; it could be a call or a quick face‑to‑face if you’re locally based.
