Regulatory Executive Job in Kavaratti, Lakshadweep, India
Lakshadweep Marine Ltd.
We are Lakshadweep Marine Ltd., a growing company providing crucial maritime regulatory services across the Lakshadweep archipelago. Our headquarters is located at Marine Drive, Kavaratti, but we work with teams on other islands like Agatti, Bilinga, and Kadappathur.
We are looking for a Regulatory Executive who can help us maintain safety standards, draft compliance documents, and coordinate with local authorities. The role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with a little experience in regulatory affairs or marine policies.
Day-to-day, you’ll sit in our modest office in Kavaratti, working with a compact team of five. We start our day early, around 9:00 AM, with a quick briefing where we go through the shipment schedule and any new regulatory notices. I’ll give you real-life examples: e.g., on a recent visit, we had to update safe‑manoeuvre protocols for small fishing boats after a new environmental law was introduced. You’ll draft the memo, circulate it, and ensure every skipper signs off.
Team culture here is informal and supportive. We celebrate small wins—like a successful audit—over a pot of tea, and we value open communication. Everyone speaks Marathi, Malayalam or Hindi, so language is never a barrier. We also have a monthly “learning circle” where one of us presents on a new regulation or a technology that could help us be more efficient.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and updating compliance manuals for local fishermen and cargo vessels.
- Conducting routine site visits to verify that safety equipment meets standards.
- Coordinating with the Marine Safety Board and the local police during inspection rounds.
- Using our in-house software to log incidents and generate reports.
- Helping train new hires on best practices.
We provide you with a simple yet reliable workstation: a laptop, a secure VPN, and access to the Lakshadweep Regulatory Portal. You’ll also use a smartphone to receive quick updates and a small handheld GPS for site visits. There’s no heavy equipment in this role, but field work requires a sturdy pair of boots and a waterproof jacket.
There are clear paths for growth. After 12 months, you could become a Senior Regulatory Officer overseeing multiple islands. With proven expertise, you might even move into the regional policy division at the Department of Marine Affairs. We offer quarterly performance reviews and encourage you to apply for national courses in maritime law; we’ll cover the fees.
We pay a competitive monthly salary of ₹20,000–₹35,000, plus a basic medical insurance and a yearly performance bonus. If you’re comfortable working in a small-town environment, enjoy community vibes, and want to learn about marine regulation right away, you’ll fit in well here.
To apply, send your résumé and a brief cover letter explaining why you are interested in the role to careers@lakshadweepmarine.com. Candidates will be invited for a short interview over the phone or at our office in Kavaratti.
