What a typical day looks like
Our mornings start with a quick 10-minute huddle. We discuss last night’s sales, any changes in inventory, and who will be on extra duty for the busy weekend. A walking tour of the fresh produce section follows, making sure each fruit and vegetable has a clean display and the correct label. The afternoon is usually our busiest: shoppers from Kargil, nearby villages, and tourists seeking local saffron, cheese, and handicrafts. You’ll greet them, answer questions, and guide them to what they need. When the cash register is busy, you might help with packing small orders for delivery trucks that head to nearby markets.

Your responsibilities (real examples)
- Greet and assist up to 60 customers per shift, answering queries about our local saffron or suggesting complementary items.
- Organise the daily fruit and vegetable turnover, ensuring that produce is rotated to keep waste under 5%.
- Use the basic POS terminal (Tan Mini Stick) to record sales quickly – you’ll learn the touch-screen interface in the first week.
- Help with the weekly inventory/stock audit— we count the goods, update spreadsheets, and flag any shortfalls.
- Assist in small packaging tasks for online orders that go to the local e-commerce hub.
Tools and equipment
You’ll get a POS device, barcode scanners, a simple spreadsheet program on a desktop and a mobile phone for our inventory alerts. The shop follows eco-friendly practices, so you’ll also see reusable cloth bags at the counter, and we occasionally share a small coffee machine during breaks.
Setting and physical environment
Our store is about 80 square metres with a bright, open floor plan and warm wooden décor. A small invite‑only corner near the entrance showcases hand‑made candles made by a local artisan.
