Are you a friendly, reliable person who loves the mountains and wants to earn a steady income? Kargil Ride & Travel Pvt. Ltd. is looking for a Taxi Driver to join our small but growing team in the beautiful town of Kargil.
Our company has been serving locals and tourists for over 10 years. Every day we start early, check our vehicles, and make sure the GPS and fuel levels are ready. We operate a fleet of 8 comfortable taxis that run from the town centre to the nearby villages, the Leh airport, and the scenic passes. You will be the face of our service, greeting passengers with a smile and making sure they reach their destination safely.

Opportunities for growth
We believe in promoting from within. After 6 months of good performance you can become a senior driver, then a route manager, and eventually a fleet manager. We also offer a small stipend for learning basic vehicle maintenance and first aid.
Responsibilities
- Drive safely and punctually between Kargil town, nearby villages and the Leh airport.
- Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle – wash, vacuum, and check oil levels.
- Use our simple GPS system and a mobile app to receive bookings and update status.
- Assist passengers with luggage, especially during the winter months when roads are icy.
- Report any mechanical issues or accidents to the dispatcher immediately.
Tools & equipment
We provide a reliable Toyota Corolla or a Mahindra XUV500, a GPS unit, a mobile phone with our booking app, and a small toolkit for basic repairs. You will also receive a driver’s safety kit – gloves, a first‑aid box and a reflective vest.
Environment
Work is mostly on the road, but you will spend a few hours each day at our small office in the town centre. The office is a cozy space with a fridge, a radio and a few chairs. The weather can be extreme – from scorching summer days to heavy snowfall in winter – so we provide warm clothing and a flexible schedule.
Your typical day starts at 6:00 am when you arrive at the depot. You do a quick inspection of the vehicle, check the fuel gauge, and ensure the GPS is updated. Then you receive your first booking via the app. You might pick up a tourist heading to the Pangong Lake or a local farmer heading to the market. The day ends around 10:00 pm when you return the vehicle for a final check.
We also run a small community outreach program. Once a month we help local schools with transportation for students. This gives you a chance to connect with the community and build goodwill.
Safety is our top priority. We provide a monthly safety briefing, and you are required to complete a basic first aid course. We also have a 24/7 helpline for emergencies.
We offer a monthly salary of 15,000 to 25,000 INR, plus a performance bonus of up to 5% of your monthly earnings if you maintain a 95% on-time record. We also provide a small health insurance plan covering you and your immediate family.
