We are looking for a cheerful Holiday Helper to join our team at Sikkim Dreams Festive Centre in Gyalshing. The role will keep you busy during festivals, colourful markets and special community events that take place every month in our town.
On a normal day, you will arrive early to set up stalls, arrange decorations, and make sure every vendor has the space they need. After the event starts, you help guests navigate, keep the venue tidy, manage the small kitchen for refreshments, and handle quick safety checks of the area. Evenings may involve assisting with billing and thanking visitors as they leave.
Our team is small – about fifteen people – but we are a close‑knit group that likes to laugh together and celebrate every success. We have a relaxed attitude, but everyone knows that we stick to the schedule to make sure the town’s festivities run smoothly. We have weekly tea breaks where we discuss ideas for better layouts or new food stalls to try next time.
In a town of about 15,000 residents, there are plenty of chances to grow. You can start as a helper and eventually take on a small team lead role, or you could learn to design event layouts and manage budgets. We also support trainees who want to join our summer school of volunteers, giving you a path into event planning or tourism promotion.
Responsibilities that give you real impact include:
- Arranging and decorating booths for 10–15 vendors each festival.
- Watching over the area to solve problems if a stall runs out of power, or a guest gets stuck.
- Offering drink service from a hand‑made chai station during peak times.
- Keeping a list of attendee feedback and passing it to management after each event.
We provide all the tools you need: portable folding tables, small generators for low‑power food stalls, a walkie–talkie for quick communication, and a basic first‑aid kit in case of minor injuries. No fancy software is required, just a phone that can take photos so we can share highlights on social media.
The workplace is a converted open‑air building on Station Road with a garden area for seating. It’s not a typical office – you’ll be out in the fresh mountain air most of the day, surrounded by the aromatic scent of local herbs and the buzz of traffic from nearby bus stops. It’s a wonderful place to meet people from many age groups and backgrounds.
