General Laborer Job in Firozpur, Punjab, India
Firozpur Cooperative Agricultural Society
Are you looking for a dependable job right here in Firozpur, Punjab? We are a local agricultural cooperative that has been serving the community for over 30 years. We’re expanding our workforce and need hardworking, punctual General Laborers to join our team. No previous experience is required; we’ll train you on the job.
What we’re about: Every day we roll up our sleeves and get the field ready, help the farmers with harvesting, maintain the on‑farm tools, and keep our small shop where we sell seeds and tools tidy. The work is hands‑on, honest, and rewarding. We celebrate our teamwork by sharing a lunch together at the end of the day and by planning small social events for the whole crew.
Day‑to‑day routine: You’ll start your shift at 6 AM, check the tractors and pick‑up trucks, use a simple piece‑of‑equipment chart, and then help with any of the following tasks: loading bales onto trucks, packaging seeds in bags, or cleaning the workshop floor. Intermittently you may help our shop staff with packing seed packets to satisfy customers who come in the afternoon. We always finish the day by shutting down the machines, refilling oil, and making a quick safety check.
Why work with us? We value loyalty. Staff who stay are given increased responsibility - like supervising new hires or maintaining the irrigation system. We also offer a small in‑house training program so you can learn how to operate a tractor or use our 8‑amp power drill if you’re interested. It’s a good chance to gain skills that may help you get better jobs in the future, perhaps in a larger nearby machinery shop or a construction firm.
What you’ll be doing: Gauntleted hands are a must. You’ll be lifting up to 50 kg – a bag of grain, a sack of seeds, or a small pot of soil. You will also be responsible for basic quality checks: making sure the seed bags are sealed properly and the labels are correct. During the sowing season you might be asked to help with planting the seed pits in rows. All work is supervised by a frontline manager, so you can ask questions if you’re not sure. We reward diligence with a bonus once you hit the monthly labour quota.
Tools and safety gear: We’ll provide you with a steel‑toed boot, safety goggles, and ear protection if you use the tractor’s steering wheel lock. You’ll also get a sturdy pair of gloves to keep your hands protected while lifting. The essential equipment includes a 3‑ton loader pad, a 1.5‑ton backhoe, and a small 2 hp walk‑behind tiller.
Our places of work: The cooperative has a small warehouse yard, a seed shop on Main Street, and a field that stretches over 50 acres. The warehouse is an open‑space with a few fixed benches and a small break area with a refrigerator. The field is where you’ll spend most of your time, not far from the canal. We keep the workplace clean, and we have a designated spot where you can rest on hot days.
Growth opportunities: If you show dedication and pick up skills we can promote you to a junior supervisor role or transfer you to the shop as a stock‑taking master. We also partner with a vocational training center in Firozpur that offers short courses on machinery maintenance – fully funded if you meet our attendance benchmarks.
We meet weekly on Wednesdays at the community hall to discuss the progress of on‑goings and share funny stories from the harvest. We’re a close‑knit team, and we appreciate mutual respect and honesty.
Ready to apply? Bring a copy of your school certificate if you have one (or simply a tiny elevator roll), or you can just come through the front door. The trade is honest, and the pay is competitive for the region.
