We are Vivek Shipping & Services Pvt Ltd, a family‑owned transport and marine support provider based in the charming coastal town of Vallakkad (Lakshadweep). Our fleet takes local fishermen and small businesses on their daily runs around the islands and to the mainland. We’re looking for a reliable Car Service Driver to join our crew and keep the wheels turning smoothly.
What a typical day looks like:
- Start the day at 6:30 AM, pick up the cargo van, check the day’s routes, and verify the fuel log.
- Drive between Indian Ocean coast and towns like Kavaratti, Bissam S, and Kavaratti Port, stopping at small eateries, grocery stalls, and fisherman’s docks.
- Manage on‑the‑go delivery of fresh produce, bottles of water, and occasional small parcels to locals.
- Maintain the vehicle’s cleanliness, do an hourly safety check, and report any pothole or road damage to our office.
Work is often sunny or rainy, but the schedule is normal: 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, with daylight breaks for lunch at a local tea stall. You’ll be part of a tight team of about ten drivers and a support crew that exchanges stories over the warm evenings at the Port’s little café.

Responsibilities – Here are a few tasks described with real examples:
- Carrying a 200‑kilo load of fresh fish from a tender to a local fish market – careful handling to avoid spills.
- Navigating the narrow lanes of Vallakkad Port and coordinating with the harbourmaster to avoid delays.
- Handling a last‑minute shipment of medical supplies from mainland to the island health post.
Tools & Equipment – You’ll drive our standard 4‑ton cargo van. Basic GPS device, hand‑held ticket printer, and the standard driver satchel.
We keep the environment friendly and safe. Our office is a small but tidy shop on Raven Road, Ground Floor, Near Govt Primary School; from there we plan routes and check vehicle condition. After work we’re ready to drive the old-school van across the Rangam Island promontory, enjoy sea breezes and offer a friendly nod to townsfolk.
