Are you a friendly, energetic person who loves to serve people? Sundar Bazar Restaurant, a popular family‑run eatery in Balangir, is looking for a Waitress to join our team. We serve a mix of local Oriya dishes and popular fast food, and we pride ourselves on warm hospitality and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.
What a typical day looks like
- Arrive 30 minutes before opening, greet the kitchen staff, and set up the dining area.
- Take orders, recommend specials, and ensure every guest feels attended to.
- Serve food and drinks, refill water glasses, and clear tables promptly.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately, and give correct change.
- Keep the service area clean – sweep, mop, and wipe down tables between shifts.
- Assist in closing duties: count till, lock the cash drawer, and prepare the next day’s menu.

Responsibilities explained with real examples
When a family of four comes in, you’ll greet them, show them to a table, and take their order. If a customer asks for a spicy version of the fish curry, you’ll note it and pass it to the kitchen. During lunch rush, you’ll juggle multiple tables, keep track of orders, and ensure no one waits too long. If a guest has a dietary restriction, you’ll double‑check the menu and suggest suitable options.
Tools & equipment
- POS terminal for order entry and payment.
- Standard kitchen utensils – ladles, tongs, and a small set of knives.
- Cleaning supplies: mops, brooms, sanitiser wipes.
- Uniform: a simple apron and a name badge.

Our restaurant is a 200‑square‑meter space with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The kitchen is open, so you’ll see the chefs at work. The ambience is relaxed, with soft music and local décor. It’s a great place to meet people from all walks of life.
