Logistics Executive Job in Shillong, Meghalaya, India
Eagle Logistics Pvt. Ltd.
Welcome to Eagle Logistics Pvt. Ltd., a family‑run freight forwarding company proudly serving the hills of Meghalaya. We’re looking for a fresh face to join our vibrant team as a Logistics Executive. If you love coordination, have a knack for problem‑solving, and are eager to learn what it takes to keep goods moving smoothly from Shillong to the rest of the country, read on.
Our Day‑to‑Day Life
Each morning, we gather at our 3‑story office on the bustling Ganesh Marg. The hustle begins with a quick briefing in our cozy shared kitchen – the aroma of freshly boiled tea sets the tone. From there, team members dive into tasks: picking up shipment data, confirming transport schedules, and communicating with field drivers. We keep a blend of paper logs and a simple cloud‑based system (Google Sheets + WhatsApp for quick updates) to track every consign‑ment. You’ll spend time here, but there are also field trips to local markets and highways to meet our partners.
Team Culture
We’re a close‑knit team of 18 people, most of whom have been with us for over five years. Casual Fridays are a staple, and we often swap grocery vouchers when the office runs low on staples. We celebrate small wins – a successful on‑time delivery, an eco‑friendly truck route – with a quick group lunch. Everyone’s voice matters; open floor discussions are the norm, not a perk.
Growth Opportunities
Starting as a Logistics Executive, you’ll be mentored by our Senior Logistics Manager. By the end of the first year, you’ll have the chance to manage a small team and handle larger consignments. We invest in short courses – team’s interest in basic accounting or Excel advanced workshops are financed from our training fund.
Responsibilities in Action
• Pickup scheduling – Imagining a scenario where a supplier’s truck is delayed by 2 hours; you’ll call the driver, signal the warehouse team, and re‑route the shipment, ensuring the customer’s deadline isn’t breached.
• Documentation – You’ll fill out the Delivery Note, attach electronic invoices, and archive PDFs, all while ensuring data matches the transport manifest.
• Vendor communication – Communicating with local taxi drivers and regional lorry owners to secure last‑mile delivery slots.
• Inventory checks – Handling a back‑up plan when a stock discrepancy is found in the warehouse; you must coordinate with the inventory team to reconcile the count within 12 hours.
Tools & Equipment
• Basic office tools – Windows 10 laptop, printer, scanner.
• Mobile – Android phone (company‑issued) for GPS tracking and WhatsApp communication.
• GPS navigation – Garmin Vihog, used when routing drivers.
• Transportation – We partner with 4 regional lorries (28‑tanker trucks) for interstate deliveries.
Environment
Our office is located just off the Rangsit Tourist Road, within walking distance to the local bus stop. The building has a small greenhouse area where we grow mint and basil; it’s a little reminder of nature even inside the administration walls. On duty breaks, you will be outside in the humid monsoon air, taking a quick walk on the campus quad or grab a bite at the street vendors.
Field visits involve traveling to nearby towns such as Garo Hills to coordinate with smaller carriers. Occasionally, you might also find yourself at the docks in the riverine port of Brindaban when consolidating large shipments for outbound transit.
We value honesty, punctuality, and a willingness to learn. If you fit that description and are ready to start a career that keeps you on your feet and growing, please apply. The job is full‑time with a monthly salary range of ₹18,000 – ₹25,000, reflecting our commitment to rewarding hard work in a small‑town setting.
